Parent-child reunification counseling is counseling is also referred to as Parent-Child Contact Problems or Resist-Refuse Dynamics. It is implemented when a parent-child relationship has been damaged through the process of separation and divorce. It is important to address these challenges quickly in order to repair these important relationships to limit any short- or long-term impacts on a child’s well-being.
The goal of Reunification Therapy is to eliminate the estrangement that can result from high-conflict separation and divorce and to work to repair any damage that has occurred.
My goal as a Reunification Therapist is to foster healing among family members, develop constructive co-parent communication, identify shared goals for children and foster support for the repair work and, in the best case scenarios, to achieve the re-establishment of a parent-child relationship. I work closely with all professionals involved in order to achieve a healthy outcome.
